An Italianate garden dropped into a steep Dorset valley near Beaminster, below a Jacobean manor. The formal levels of fountains, topiary, grottoes and stone birds were laid out in the 1920s by Ethel Labouchere in memory of her husband; lower down the planting loosens into the valley and a rewilded estate walk. It took the Historic Houses Garden of the Year award in 2020. Paid entry; home of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich. Maiden Newton station is about 10km east.
