This thatched Palmers pub, dating to the 1600s, is where the Melplash Show was born: farmers meeting here in 1846 set up the agricultural society, and the first show followed in 1847. It stands midway between Bridport and Beaminster, with a big garden and valley views, and serves food through the day. A useful stop if you’re walking the Brit valley.
