The flat quarry shelf at Dancing Ledge drops straight to the sea, and cut into it is a small pool blasted from the rock in the 1890s for the boys of the nearby Durnford preparatory school, who swam here each morning. It fills and empties with the tide. Reaching it means a walk down from Langton Matravers and a short scramble onto the ledge; the water below is deep and can be rough. The Square and Compass at Worth Matravers is close by.
