Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
Below Worth Matravers, the coast path drops into Winspit, a disused sea-cliff quarry where square-cut galleries and caves open straight onto the water. Stone was worked here into the twentieth century, and the caves have since served as film and television locations, standing in for alien worlds. It’s a walk down the valley from the village; the ledges are uneven and the sea close, so take care. The Square and Compass is back up in the village.
