Worth Matravers is a Purbeck limestone village of stone cottages set around a duck pond, high above the sea. Its famous pub, the Square and Compass, was named around 1830 by a landlord who worked as a stonemason and has stayed in the same family for generations. Cliff paths lead down to the old quarry caves at Winspit and Seacombe.
