St George's Church, Reforme
Built of Portland stone between 1754 and 1766 to a design by the local mason Thomas Gilbert, St George’s is a rare survival of a Georgian preaching church. Inside are twin pulpits, box pews and galleries, all facing the word rather than an altar; outside, the windswept churchyard is full of quarrymen’s and mariners’ graves. Now cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust and open seasonally. Weymouth station is about 7km north.
