Places to explore in HerefordshireEngland · West Midlands

Red earth and cider orchards define this quiet border county. The River Wye loops through it from the Welsh hills, cutting the wooded gorge at Symonds Yat and passing beneath Goodrich Castle, one of many strongholds raised along this Marches frontier. The Malvern Hills form a sharp eastern rampart, and the Black Mountains close in to the south-west. Hereford Cathedral keeps the medieval Mappa Mundi, while the black-and-white timbered villages run west to the Neolithic tomb of Arthur's Stone in the Golden Valley.
