Croft Castle sits in old parkland on the Welsh border, a quiet manor-castle held by the Croft family for the best part of 900 years. Behind the house an avenue of sweet chestnuts — some said to have been grown from Spanish Armada seed — climbs toward the Iron Age hillfort of Croft Ambrey, past a walled garden and veteran oaks. National Trust, and the parkland walks are the real reason to come.
