Under a thatched roof, All Saints at Brockhampton is one of the boldest church designs of its day. William Lethaby built it in 1901–02 for Alice Foster of Brockhampton Court, who paid for it in memory of her parents. Grade I listed and a landmark of the Arts and Crafts movement, it hides a concrete tunnel-vault beneath that thatch, with woodwork, textiles and stained glass by the movement’s makers. This is Brockhampton-by-Ross, north-east of Ross-on-Wye; the church is open and free. Hereford station is about 11km to the north-west.
