Hellens is a rambling red-brick manor at Much Marcle, largely Jacobean but with roots much older, and named after a 14th-century steward, Walter Helyon. The gardens behind hold a walled knot garden, a yew labyrinth, a physic garden and orchards, with a 17th-century octagonal dovecote among them. The house is shown by guided tour on selected afternoons over the season, with the gardens open alongside; there’s an admission charge. Ledbury is the nearest town, a few miles east.
