The timber-framed Market House on its posts is Ledbury’s set piece, begun in 1617 and attributed to John Abel, the King’s Carpenter, its upper floor raised on wooden pillars above the old open market floor. Behind it, cobbled Church Lane runs up between leaning black-and-white buildings to the parish church. A handsome market town below the Malverns, and an easy visit: the station sits just north of the centre, about 1km away.
