Fownhope is a long village near the Wye, useful as a walking base below the Iron Age ramparts of Capler Camp. At its centre is the Green Man Inn, a timber-framed former coaching inn dating from about 1485, with rooms and food. Riverside and woodland paths run straight from the village. Hereford station is around 9km to the north-west.
