The largest of the villages strung along the Golden Valley, Peterchurch lies beside the River Dore in border country west of Hereford. St Peter’s is the draw — a long Norman church with a rebuilt spire — but otherwise it’s a working village rather than a showpiece, handy as a base for walks up onto the hills on either side.
