Reputedly the oldest pub in Herefordshire, the Pandy Inn at Dorstone is said to date from around 1185 — built, the story goes, by Sir Richard de Brito while raising the village church as penance for his part in the murder of Thomas Becket. It’s a welcoming Golden Valley inn now, with real ale, cider, food and rooms, and it makes a good base for the Neolithic tomb at Arthur’s Stone on the hill above.
