An inn has stood on the west bank at Symonds Yat since at least 1473, and Ye Olde Ferrie Inn still runs a rope ferry across the Wye when it’s wanted — the crossing is older than the pub itself. Flagstone floors and low beams inside, a terrace above the river, and rooms if you stay. It faces the Saracen’s Head on the far bank.
