Kington sits in the Arrow valley right on the Welsh border, the last town before the Offa’s Dyke Path climbs onto Hergest Ridge. It’s a walkers’ town more than a sightseeing one, with an old market square and steep streets running down to the river. Just above it are Hergest Croft Gardens, whose tree and shrub collection is among the finest in England. Kington is off the rail network; the nearest station is Knighton, about 16km north.
