The heart of the Brockhampton Estate is Lower Brockhampton, a timber-framed manor of the late 1300s set inside its own moat and reached through a small detached gatehouse of the 1530s. Around it spread 1,700 acres of farmed country east of Bromyard — ancient woodland, walking trails and orchards, including the largest the National Trust looks after. The family left it to the Trust in 1950.
