Edward Elgar was born in this brick cottage at Lower Broadheath on 2 June 1857, and it’s now a museum run by the National Trust, with the composer’s manuscripts, letters and belongings shown in the house and a separate exhibition centre in the garden. Open to visitors with an admission charge. It sits in quiet countryside west of the city; Worcester Foregate Street station is about 4km east.
