Places to explore in SurreyEngland · South East England

Two ranges of hills cross Surrey: the chalk of the North Downs and, to the south, the higher greensand of the Surrey Hills, which rise to Leith Hill, the tallest point in south-east England. The Downs make their finest show at Box Hill, a steep chalk face above the River Mole. Sandy heaths spread west to the Devil's Punch Bowl and the ponds and commons around Frensham. The county packs in gardens and ruins as well, among them RHS Garden Wisley and the first Cistercian house in England at Waverley Abbey.
