St Martha-on-the-Hill is a small Norman church alone on a sandy hilltop on the North Downs Way above Guildford, reached only on foot. The rebuilt medieval church stands where the path crosses the old Pilgrims’ Way, and the climb is rewarded with wide views. Chilworth station is about 1km south, with the Percy Arms below the hill.
