The Savill Garden covers 35 acres of woodland and ornamental planting in Windsor Great Park, begun by Eric Savill in 1932 at George V’s request and opened to visitors in 1953. It works through the seasons — spring woodland, summer borders, autumn colour, winter beds — with the neighbouring Valley Gardens sloping down towards Virginia Water. Entry is ticketed. Virginia Water station is about 3km to the south-east.
