Cumberland Lodge is a 17th-century house tucked deep into Windsor Great Park, built for a Cromwellian officer and later home to a string of park Rangers, including the Duke of Cumberland it takes its name from. These days it’s an educational charity running residential courses, so the house stays closed to casual visitors — though it holds occasional open days and group tours where you can see the historic rooms. The park around it is open to walk through at any time, and Virginia Water Lake is a short stroll south.
