St Mary’s sits beside the Mole at Stoke d’Abernon and holds the brass of Sir John d’Abernon, dated 1277 and long regarded as the oldest monumental brass in England — a life-size knight in armour set into the chancel floor. The church itself keeps Saxon and Norman work. Open to visitors. Cobham & Stoke d’Abernon station is about 1km north-west.
