Painshill is a restored 18th-century landscape garden at Cobham, laid out by Charles Hamilton as a walking circuit around a serpentine lake. Along the way are follies — a Gothic temple, a crystal grotto, a ruined abbey and a working waterwheel. Open most of the year, paid entry. Cobham & Stoke d’Abernon station is about 3km south-east.
