Haslemere is a hill town in the wooded far south-west of Surrey, ringed by high heathland and greensand hills, with the Devil’s Punch Bowl to the north. It’s known for the Haslemere Festival of early music, run since 1925 by the Dolmetsch family, and for the Educational Museum on the high street. Haslemere station is on the direct London-to-Portsmouth line.
