St Nicholas at Compton is a Norman church with an unusual two-storey sanctuary, twin altars set one above the other. Its carved wooden guardrail, cut from a single plank around 1180, is often called the oldest piece of church woodwork in England. Open to visitors, and close to the Watts Chapel. Farncombe station is about 3km south-east.
