Leith Hill is the highest point in south-east England at 294m (965ft), a wooded greensand summit topped by an 18th-century Gothic tower. Climbing to the tower’s roof takes you past the 1,000-foot mark, with a long view south toward the coast. Open access and free, though the tower is ticketed. Holmwood station is about 4km east, and Coldharbour sits just below.
