Friday Street is a tiny hamlet tucked in the woods below Leith Hill, gathered round a hammer-pond left from old iron-working. Narrow lanes and footpaths lead down to it, and it’s a well-loved stop for walkers on the greensand hills. There’s no station close by; Gomshall, about 5km north-west, is the nearest.
