Places to explore in SwanseaWales · South West Wales
Wales's second city curves round the sweep of Swansea Bay, but its glory is the Gower peninsula reaching west, the first place in Britain to be named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Carboniferous limestone cliffs, commons and burial chambers run its length to the tidal island of Worm's Head at the tip of Rhossili Bay. The dunes and ruined castle above Three Cliffs Bay make one of the most photographed views in Wales. Prehistory runs deep. The oldest ceremonial burial in western Europe was found at Paviland Cave, and the neolithic Arthur's Stone crowns Cefn Bryn above.
