Mumbles Pier opened in 1898 at the eastern end of Swansea Bay, a cast-iron Victorian pier some 255m long designed by W. Sutcliffe Marsh. The RNLI lifeboat station stands at its seaward end, and there’s a café and amusements at the shore. It marks the finish of the old Mumbles railway; Mumbles Head and its lighthouse lie just beyond. Swansea station is about 6km north, with buses on to Mumbles.
