Oxwich lies behind the dunes of Oxwich Bay, a wide sweep of sand backed by a national nature reserve of marsh, reedbed and wood. The little church of St Illtyd sits almost on the shore under wooded cliffs at the east end of the beach, with the ruins of Oxwich Castle on the rise above. A quiet village once the summer beach crowds thin.
