Culver Hole
Local highlightApproximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
Culver Hole is an oddity: a natural cliff fissure near Port Eynon walled up with masonry, pierced by small windows and climbed inside by a stone stair. Its origin is uncertain, though a medieval dovecote is the usual guess — “culver” is an old word for dove. It sits low on the rocks west of Port Eynon Bay and can only be reached at low tide over slippery boulders, so time it carefully.
