St Mary’s stands above Rhossili, the last village before the great beach and Worm’s Head, and keeps a fine Norman doorway from the older church that once sat lower down the slope. Inside is a memorial to Edgar Evans, the Gower-born petty officer who died on Scott’s return from the South Pole in 1912. It’s right by the path out to the headland, open to visitors.
