Places to explore in ConwyWales · North Wales

From the seaside promenades of Llandudno, tucked beneath the limestone headland of the Great Orme, Conwy climbs to the highest ground in Wales. The Carneddau and Glyderau rise in the west, and the hanging valley of Cwm Idwal holds one of Britain's first nature reserves beneath the cliffs. Edward I threw up Conwy Castle and its ring of town walls in the 1280s, still among the finest medieval defences in Europe. The wooded Conwy valley leads inland past the cascade of Swallow Falls to the village of Betws-y-Coed, while Bodnant Garden tumbles down a hillside above the river.
