Nant Ffrancon is a textbook U-shaped glacial valley, gouged out by ice and now carrying the A5 down from Llyn Ogwen towards Bethesda. Thomas Telford’s original road runs along the valley floor as a quieter walking and cycling route below the crags of the Glyderau. Open to drive through or walk; the lay-bys near Ogwen make the best place to stop and take it in.
