Capel Curig sits at a meeting of valleys in the middle of Eryri, a long-established base for climbers and walkers. Llynnau Mymbyr, just west, gives the classic reflected view of the Snowdon horseshoe. There are a couple of old mountain inns here, among them the Bryn Tyrch, and the Pen-y-Gwryd up the road.
