Penrhyn was once among the largest slate quarries in the world, its stepped terraces cut into the hillside above Bethesda and still worked today. Part of the UNESCO-listed slate landscape of north-west Wales, it’s now also home to Zip World Velocity, one of the fastest zip lines anywhere. Admission for the zip line; the quarry itself is a working industrial site, not open to wander.
