The gardens wrap around Gwydir, a sixteenth-century courtyard house just outside Llanrwst, and have been restored over recent decades — clipped yew arches, a cedar terrace and peacocks wandering the lawns. The house was the seat of the Wynn family, whose chapel still stands at St Grwst’s in the town. Open for an admission charge; Llanrwst station is under a kilometre off.
