Places to explore in AngusScotland · North East Scotland

The southern Grampians send long glens down into Angus, which then flattens through the farmland of Strathmore to a coast of red sandstone. Glen Clova reaches furthest into the hills, ending in the ice-carved corrie and rare arctic-alpine plants of Corrie Fee. The Declaration of Scottish independence was drawn up in 1320 at Arbroath Abbey, and the Picts left their carved stones at Aberlemno. The tide fills the great basin behind Montrose, seabirds crowd the Seaton Cliffs, and the sands curve away at Lunan Bay.
