House of Dun is a Georgian mansion above the Montrose Basin, designed by William Adam and finished in 1743. It’s owned by the National Trust for Scotland, with a walled garden, woodland walks and long views over the basin’s birdlife. The grounds are open year-round; the house itself opens seasonally, so check before a visit if you want to see inside. Montrose, with the nearest station, is a few kilometres east.
