Dunninald is a Gothic Revival mansion near Montrose, built between 1819 and 1824 to a design by James Gillespie Graham. The walled garden and woodland are the main draw, and they open on a short seasonal timetable — Sunday to Tuesday afternoons from May to the end of August, with a small admission charge. The house itself opens for guided tours over a couple of weeks in early and mid-summer, so check the dates before you go.
