The Montrose Basin Wildlife Centre is a Scottish Wildlife Trust visitor centre looking out over a big tidal basin that fills with geese, ducks and wading birds. Autumn is the headline show, when thousands of pink-footed geese pour in. There’s a charge for the centre with its telescopes and hides, though the wider reserve is free to walk. Montrose station is about 2km to the east.
