Sweeping red-sand bay with dunes.
Lunan Bay is a gorgeous two-mile sweep of east-facing sand, backed by dunes and watched over by the ruins of Red Castle on the low cliff above. It’s a great spot for a long beach walk, and popular with surfers when there’s swell running. Free to visit, with a car park near the north end. Montrose station is about 7.5km up the coast to the north.
