Edzell is a tidy planned village, entered under a stone memorial arch across the main road, and the way in to Glen Esk at the southern edge of the Angus glens. Just outside the village lie the ruins of Edzell Castle, whose Renaissance walled garden is the real draw — see Edzell Castle Walled Garden. The Glenesk Hotel by the golf course makes a comfortable base for exploring the glen.
