You enter Fettercairn under a stone arch built in 1864 to mark a visit by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert three years earlier. The Mearns village also has its own single-malt distillery, Fettercairn, founded back in 1824. Laurencekirk station is about 7km east, down on the main line.
