Angus's first seaside sauna, a small timber cabin on the grass above Monifieth beach

Derrick Murdoch and Pauline Matthews put this spruce-clad cabin on the Monifieth seafront at the end of 2024, on a patch of grass just south of the coastal cycle route. Angus Council refused it planning permission in 2025, but a Scottish Government reporter allowed it to stay in May 2026. There are steps down to the sea on the right-hand side, and the operators ask you not to climb down over the rocks.
