St Athernase Church, Leuchars
St Athernase at Leuchars has one of the finest pieces of Norman architecture in Scotland — a semicircular apse and chancel from the 12th century, ringed with tiers of blind arcading and carved heads. The rest of the church is later, but that Romanesque east end is the reason to come. It’s open to visitors and free, only a few minutes from Leuchars station.
