Tentsmuir spreads across the north-east corner of Fife — a big national nature reserve of Scots pine, shifting dunes and a wide tidal beach where the Tay meets the sea. Hundreds of grey and common seals haul out on the sandbanks, and it’s rich in seabirds and wildfowl. There’s a car park at Kinshaldy with forest trails and a walk out to the shore. Come ready for the wind.
