V&A Dundee is Scotland’s first design museum, opened in 2018 as the striking centrepiece of the city’s revamped waterfront. The building, all stacked stone slabs jutting towards the Tay, was designed by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. General entry is free, though some special exhibitions are ticketed, so check what’s on before you go. It stands right beside Discovery Point, a few minutes’ walk from Dundee station.
