St Mary’s is Dundee’s old parish church, and its great square tower — the Old Steeple — is one of the finest medieval church towers left in Scotland, built in the 1470s. The kirk beside it was rebuilt in Gothic-revival style after fire, but the tower is the medieval survivor. It’s open to visitors, and you can climb the steeple on a tower tour for a wide view over the city and the Tay. Dundee station is about 300m to the west.
